Kacey Musgraves appeared on The Tonight Show to perform her recent song “The Architect” and to chat with host Jimmy Fallon about her new LP, Deeper Well. Musgraves took the stage with her band in old timey garb for an emotional performance of the album cut.

Musgraves sat down with Fallon to chat about her recent Grammy win, Deeper Well, and kicking off her world tour in Ireland.

“Releasing a creative project, I don’t know if you feel this way, it’s such a process of letting go,” Musgraves told Fallon of releasing her album. “These songs were written from a very intimate, personal place and then you release them and they kind of become everyone else’s that they attach their own meanings and stuff to. So it’s bittersweet in a way because I feel like once you release it it’s not yours anymore. It’s others.”

She added, “It’s like summer camp when you’re making a record. You’re with your friends and you’re hanging out. This was like a year and a half or so in the making.”

Deeper Well is out today. The 14-track LP, recorded at New York’s storied Electric Lady Studios, is “a collection songs I hold very dear to my heart,” Musgraves wrote in an Instagram post last month announcing her latest work. Musgraves recently appeared on Saturday Night Live to perform two songs from Deeper Well, singles “Deeper Well” and “Too Good to be True.”

The Texas native’s tour for Deeper Well kicks off in Europe in April, with U.S. appearances beginning in September. The tour includes 44 stops across Europe and North America, opening in Dublin on April 28. It will wrap on Dec. 7 with a final show in Nashville. Musgraves will be joined on select dates by Madi Diaz in Europe, Father John Misty in North America from September through October, and Lord Huron from November through December. Nickel Creek will support across all North American dates. Tickets are on sale now via the official Kacey Musgraves website.
