Kyler Murray Was Jacked Up After Cardinals Drafted Marvin Harrison Jr.

Arizona’s quarterback was ecstatic after his team took the Ohio State superstar.

The top of the 2024 NFL draft ended up pretty straightforward despite a ton of noise surrounding potential trades. Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels and Drake Maye were the first three picks, as was predicted. Then the Arizona Cardinals, a very popular trade-back candidate in mock draft scenarios, decided to stay put and take Marvin Harrison Jr. with the No. 4 pick.

It was both the best and obvious choice for the franchise, which lost top wideout Hollywood Brown to free agency this offseason. Quarterback Kyler Murray immediately showed his support of the selection on social media and later released video of his live reaction. To say the least, he was jacked up about getting to throw to the former Ohio State star.

LET’S ROCK!🥋🏎️ @MarvHarrisonJr

It should also be noted that Murray was wearing an Anquan Boldin throwback jersey, an appropriate choice for the evening.

Murray has every right to be this excited, too. Harrison Jr. is widely seen as the best receiver prospect to enter the draft in years. He’s the son of a Pro Football Hall of Famer, true, but he checks every other box imaginable. As a senior at Ohio State, Harrison hauled in 67 catches for 1,211 yards and 14 touchdowns while finishing fourth in Heisman Trophy voting. His route-running is fluid and he’s got the size/athleticism combination to out-run and out-jump just about everybody.

Murray’s receiving core was in tough shape after Arizona decided to move on from DeAndre Hopkins last offseason. Tight end Trey McBride was the team’s leading pass-catcher in 2023 with a grand total of 825 yards. Then Brown left and the depth chart was in dire shape.

Harrison Jr. pretty much fixes that on his own. He’s an elite talent and one who should immediately succeed catching passes from Murray. If the Cardinals do things right, this could be the connection that defines their team for years to come.
